Changes of Logo

  • BRIDGESTONE 1.0
    (1963-1975)

    The design is symbolized from the keystone used in stone arch bridges. The “BS” lettering is the initials of Bridge Stone and also implies Best Serivice.

  • BRIDGESTONE 1.0
    (1976-1983)

    The motorsport logo was renewed considering the upsurge of motorization and the appeal to the youth. The lettering was also changed from upright typefaces to slanted ones expressing a more advanced image as well as a speedy look.

  • BRIDGESTONE1.0-2.0
    (1984-1995)

    Following upon the introduction of corporate identity (CI), the motorsport logo was renewed.

  • BRIDGESTONE 2.0
    (1996-2010)

    On occasion of the entry into the Formula 1® series, the motorsport logo was renewed again in order to appeal the corporate image full of challenging spirit.

  • BRIDGESTONE 2.0-3.0
    (2011-)

    Following upon the refinement of the Bridgestone logo in 2011, its motorsport logo was also renewed.

1963-1965

Bridgestone Motorsport,
the Start

In pursuit for the high-speed driving yet to be known, Bridgestone started the development of racing tires based on its commercial products, and thus supported the “foot” of Japanese entrants that were then unable to match foreign powers.
By transmuting the initial humiliation incurred in the race on almost every occasion into a leverage, Bridgestone opened up the way to high-performance racing tires.

Challenge to the Racing Technology

Bridgestone took a leadership role in the domestic market in the development of racing tires opted in particular for racing cars that were becoming more and more aerodynamically efficient. Technological level of Bridgestone significantly stepped up through the efforts so that its tires were used by an entrant in the first F1 Grand Prix held in Japan.

1988-1996

Challenge to the
World

Coming back to INDY 500® in 1995 under the name of Firestone brand to which Bridgestone amply implanted its technologies at hand. Using the INDY 500 victory as a jumping board, the company launched into the global market.
The corporate effort in the name of Bridgestone to support top-rated motorsport events in global scale culminated to the ultimate challenge participating in the Formula 1® series as from 1997.

Challenge to the Top

As from 2002, Bridgestone began participating in the MotoGP™ series, the top-notch motorcycle race category in the world, in addition to Formula 1®. The experience of challenging the highest category in both 4-wheel and 2-wheel racing brought Bridgestone a passion for motorsport as a tire manufacturer.

Bridgestone further expands its support for the auto racings such as “Bridgestone World Solar Challenge,” a distinguished solar car race among other categories that is oriented towards the sustainability of motorsport.
