午後4時30分から90分の予定で最終となるテストセッション5が開催された。新しいアスファルトが張られて間もない鈴鹿サーキットの路面には雨が降り続いたが、一時的に雨量が弱まる時間帯もあった。# 76 AutoRace Ube Racing Team(BMW, BS)が2分17秒502をマーク。雨が降り出して以降の最速タイムを更新、唯一の2分17秒台が雨の中で記録された。セッション開始から約1時間は赤旗もなく、多いチームでは20周を越える周回とピットワークを重ねた。
開始1時間を過ぎたころ、約11分の赤旗中断。終了間際にも再び赤旗が提示され、最後のテストセッションは終了した。
トップタイムは# 76 AutoRace Ube、2番手には#17 Astemo Pro Honda SI Racing(Honda, BS)、3番手が# 21 YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM(Yamaha, BS)。2番手、3番手はいずれも2分18秒台を記録した。トップから10番手の# 88 Honda Asia-Dream Racing with Astemo(Honda, BS)までがブリヂストン勢。これで事前テストの全てのセッションが終了となった。いよいよ金曜日からは公式セッションがスタートする。
The final session of the day, Test Session 5, was held from 4:30 p.m. for a scheduled 90 minutes. Rain continued to fall on the recently resurfaced Suzuka Circuit, though there were periods when the intensity eased. The #76 AutoRace Ube Racing Team (BMW, Bridgestone) set a 2:17.502, updating the fastest time since the rain began and recording the only lap in the 2:17s in wet conditions. For about the first hour there were no red flags, and some teams completed over 20 laps while practicing pit work.
Just after the first hour there was an approximately 11-minute red-flag stoppage, and another red flag was shown near the end, bringing the final test session to a close. The fastest time was by #76 AutoRace Ube, with #17 Astemo Pro Honda SI Racing (Honda, Bridgestone) second and #21 YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM (Yamaha, Bridgestone) third; both second and third set times in the 2:18s. From the leader down to the #88 Honda Asia-Dream Racing with Astemo (Honda, Bridgestone) in 10th, all were on Bridgestone tires. With that, all pre-event test sessions have concluded. The official sessions will get underway on Friday.
